Hi everyone! My name is Marlee, and I’m a mom to two amazing little girls. Being a mother really opened my eyes to the products I use everyday, even on my children, that were full of harsh chemicals. The more research I did, the more horrified I was.

I couldn’t imagine exposing my daughters to the countless toxins that were in their bath products or even in the food they ate.

That’s why it has become my mission to only use organic, toxic-free products that are safe for my family.

My passion is to share with the world what I’ve learned and discover new products that are safe, in hopes to change the way people think about what they put in and on their bodies every day.

This is the story of a girl… Let’s vegan:

blogunnamed-2Hello! My name is Erin Dunphy and the idea of inspiring others on their own vegan journeys brings me great joy. I have been vegan for almost 8 years now. Additionally, I have been gluten-free for about three years.

Let me take you back to the beginning… As a young child, I was always told to eat meat because it would make me strong, healthy, etc. The common misguided beliefs about meat. Going meatless was not an option… by my Dad’s definition, going without meat would have made me a tree hugger (In his mind, tree hugger = bad thing). My mom says that even when I was really little, I would spit meat out. I remember only being able to eat white meat or fillet mignon or anything that was disguised (ignorance is bliss) when I did have to eat meat. I would even try to feed the meat to my dogs or chew it forever and stash it in a napkin when I thought no one was looking. None of us realized that meat and dairy were what was making me sick.

Dairy was a love of mine (I now look back and compare myself to a mouse) until I realized that was the cause of my chronic sicknesses throughout my childhood and teenage life. You see, I was constantly sick with sinus infections (twice a month, at least), nodules in my stomach and colon area, never digesting food properly, ulcers, IBS, ADHD, acid reflux, asthma brought on by exercise and outdoor allergens, terrible allergies and I think that is about it! Hah. Not to say that some of these were not worsened or brought on by the medications prescribed to me. I truly believe the medicines did add to all of the above symptoms. It got to the point that I was on SO many medications that I became immune to many of them used to treat sinus infections. The doctors actually had to start mixing them to knock infections out of my system and make my allergies tolerable.

I also had allergy shots on a regular basis. I was tested for dairy intolerance and it came up on such a small level, my intolerance to it was written off. It wasn’t until later when I saw a natural doctor that I was told my chronic sicknesses were due to dairy. He had given me two options… be on medication for the rest of my life or give it up… so began my journey into veganism and quest for answers.

The choice was easy… I gave up dairy and immediately noticed HUGE improvements in my health and a bonus of weight loss!! I lost about 20 pounds when I started on my vegan journey. To see older pictures you may not think I lost 20 pounds, but I did. Looking back, I can’t believe the pictures myself! I had always wanted to be vegetarian, never dreaming I would be able to achieve veganism and so easily at that. But I did it!

I originally had dreams of giving up meat because I LOVE animals; always have. I started rescuing from a young age too, but that’s another story for another time.

I started my journey into vegetarianism/pescatarianism (you are vegetarian but eat fish on occasion). I did that from about the age of 17 and didn’t decide to start on my vegan journey until around 2006 or 2007. Veganism had been an idea of mine to try, I had always admired those able to do it, but I never thought I could possibly live without dairy. I definitely underestimated myself. I was so very wrong. I have been vegan for 8 years and it has by far been the best decision I have made for myself and for my life path. I have not only learned so much through the process, but I have been able to inspire others to create healthier lives while taking control of their personal health. It has been such an amazing journey and I look forward to spending the rest of my existence thriving in this lifestyle… because that’s what it is. A lifestyle. Not a diet that comes and goes. Veganism is a conscious decision you make for yourself, for your health.

I am grateful for everything I am blessed with and all the wonderful people in my life. I always like to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I like to try and see beauty in almost everyone, even when others don’t see it (My mom has always told me that). I am a fighter (not in the bad way), I just don’t give up easily, I stand up for what I believe in and what I want. I am creative, sarcastic, sometimes random, stubborn about things I want and I’m very determined. As one of my favorite quotes says: “Life is full of setbacks, Success is determined by how you handle setbacks”. I love life. I always try to see the positive in every situation. Everything happens for a reason. On that same note, everyone enters your life for a reason. People enter our lives at the exact point we need them to, so we can learn lessons and grow. I have always been a bit of a dreamer, but I appreciate the present. I love the outdoors!! I love the beach and how cleansing and centering it is. I have always been athletic and artistic. I am vegan and I’m very proud of it, it’s been a beautiful journey and it just keeps getting better.

Veganism, health, wellness and fitness are my passions and I love being able to share that with everyone. Veganism has helped me to feel healthy and beautiful from the inside out. It has literally and figuratively transformed my life. I ADORE animals. I love (practicing and teaching) Yoga, Dancing, Singing, Journalism (specifically want to be a travel and vegan health/wellness journalist) and SO many other things. Love conquers all. I will always choose love. I always want to love me the best I can, for that is the only way you can truly love another. Everyday is a new day to start again. To be better. That is my goal. To be my best self and inspire others.
