Hello & Happy Thursday
Long before my days of Eat Drink Shrink, I was slaving away at college unsure of where my career path would take me. All I knew was that I wanted to build a platform to share my journey to becoming a future nutritionist. What started as a simple hobby, snowballed into something I never expected.
My full time job!
As I started my undergrad at NYU in 2012, I simultaneously launched Eat Drink Shrink. I wanted a presence in the field of nutrition and to share nutrition related topics that I valued. Everyone always wonders about the name Eat Drink Shrink and the meaning behind it. I honestly loved the sounds of it, it was available, and the idea of conveying that through consuming nutrient dense foods, that you can still Eat, Drink, and Shrink (or maintain) seemed along the lines of how I live my life.
Today I cringe at fad diets and even the vegan label as I feel it’s more empowering to embrace balance and listen to your body. As a clinical nutritionist, I eat, I drink, sometimes both too much lol (I’m human), but I still manage to maintain a healthy weight and manifest wellness.
While growing Eat Drink Shrink I was taking 18 credits, volunteering at hospitals, working for NYU, on the junior council of a vegan non profit, and as you would imagine barely keeping it all together. There were countless moments of self doubt and overall just feeling as though I was hitting my threshold with everything.
However, I made an objective, to “Say Yes” to the unknown and keep persevering.
After making my way through graduate school I realized my future was never going to be working at a hospital as a dietitian or counseling patients full time. It just wasn’t my calling and I organically thrive in a creative environment. Typically a nutrition major has an objective to apply to the dietetic internship and receive their RD credential. However, many are not selected (including myself) and some that do are not even fulfilled with the job. As a whole, it’s an underpaid field and those who abandon the field ironically do so entirely and end up in an completely different one.
Many fall victim to the idea that there is nothing left career wise if you opt out of the dietetic internship, but that’s completely false. If you have a passion for nutrition, or anything for that matter you can manifest a career. Never feel defeated and remember that someone without a credential or even a nutrition degree is making an abundance, and you can too.
Own your knowledge, show your passion, and never let a “No” deter you from your dreams.
I never let a “no” from the dietetic internship rob me of my career dreams. “Say Yes” to the unknown. Although I had only produced 2 recipes via Eat Drink Shrink at the time, I made my first big contract and everything just fell into place. Today I’ve produced upwards of 300+ recipes, been featured in magazines, worked with countless companies to develop recipes and take part in marketing campaigns to keep EDS thriving, and I’m finally going to start working on the cookbook and product line!
In doing my part to “Say Yes” to the unknown in my career, I wanted to share Well Yes!® soups. Over the years I’ve evolved to not be a soup person due to the high sodium content typically found it every variety. However, soups have come a long way and this line carries an array of modern nutrient dense and flavorful soup options that will have you swooning this fall.
From non-gmo kale, lentils, quinoa and more, the Well Yes! soups are packed to the max with nutrient dense foods in non-bpa containers and are soups in the right direction. My personal favorite, Italian Vegetable with Farro!
Well Yes! helps women say yes to deliciously crafted food, with real nutritious ingredients, so she has what she needs to say yes in the rest of her life. Well Yes! soups are crafted with care.
