Hello & Happy Sunday!!

Long before my cooking days while still in undergrad, I was all about navigating natural skincare. While I cook up a storm on the daily today, I still make finding natural skincare products a priority. To date I’ve tried perhaps every skincare company on the market and sampled endless candles, but below you’ll find my current obsessions! Every items has been  tested for at least 30-60 days.

Have you tried any of these companies products?

Do you have any personal favorites?

Let me know in the comments!

Big Sky Candle

Open jars of clove, pink pepper and nutmeg await measurement as the kitchen’s sliding doors open to the deck. Surrounding trees bristle in the chilly breeze, suggesting it just might be cool enough to light a fire.

Smooth cognac splashes over pink peppercorn, clove and nutmeg, then settles into a warm base of patchouli.

Sage & Walnut Candle

Shelves of books, boxes and maps line the four walls of the dark, genteel library, in which an old leather sofa commands its center. Someone has discreetly deposited a bowl of walnuts and two oranges on a side table, providing a much appreciated study break.

Freshly-chopped walnut is gently laden with notes of orange, star anise, oud and juniper sage.

Amber Black Vanilla Candle

The parquet floor creaks upon entering the imposing foyer, as muffled sounds of life are heard down the hall. Spices and fruits sneak in from the kitchen, while sensual musks and elegant florals whisper from the living room and master suite.

A sophisticated blend of jasmine, cassis and clove reside over black vanilla, black amber and sandalwood.

Review: If you haven’t seen prior EDS Beauty and or Wellness guides, I’m all about candles! I personally find that they eradicate old food smells, provide relaxation, and ultimately enhance my sleep. When it comes to candles though, not all are created equal. One company I was instantly drawn to is Lafco. They came about in the early 2000’s and have evolved to offer a wide variety of products in addition to candles. They do diffusers, soaps, and even hand soap and lotion now. Typically when companies break out to explore other products they fall short compared to the original. However, they nailed it in every category! Even the boxes for their products are just perfection!

When it comes to reed diffusers, even more than candles, results may vary. The majority don’t have strong enough scents and the aroma just dissipates. However, with the Lafco diffuser you get a generous portion that is refillable, a beautiful hand blown glass vase, and a scent the is not only gorgeous, but permeates the air. This is the first diffuser of theirs of sampled, but it’s simply gorgeous. I have an air room spray in the same scent and I promise, it doesn’t get old! The price is on the higher side, but you’re getting a large portion, a gorgeous reusable glass, and a scent that’s divine.

In terms of the candles I sampled this time, I loved all of these! The Amber Black Vanilla of course was my personal favorite. It’s such a beautiful scent that it would cater to anyone no matter how particular they are. The Sage & Walnut is perf for the fall/winter season, and I love the gorgeous colored glass. The Big Sky candle was a scent that’s perf for the colder temps as it offers a deeper spicy scent, but was outside of my normal picks, but I loved it!

If you love great candles, soaps, diffusers, and more, you’re going to love Lafco!

Harvest Pumpkin

Herbal Patchouli + Vanilla + Lime Diffuser

Review: Linnea’s Lights are more on the newer side compared to Lafco, but their candles are just as good and more affordable. This company was founded by a woman and to date offers an array of candles and diffusers. From the moment I found their products I was instantly drawn to them just based on the packaging alone. The boxes are just as gorgeous as the candles, the scents are gorgeous, and so strong that you can smell them without being lit. From deep smells to seasonal and more floral inspired scents, they have everything.

My personal favorites are the from the Reserve Collection as I love the black glass and even the boxes! In terms of the diffusers the sticks they use are on the thicker side, which enables for more oil to be absorbed. I find that given the size its perfect for a small space like the bathroom, but not ideal for a larger room. A gorgeous scent that lasts and diffusers even make a nice decorative touch which I love. You can’t go wrong. If you love artisan items that are made by hand you have to explore Linnea’s Lights!

Review: I happend to stumble upon Votary skincare products and was just instantly in love with them. From the packaging to the products, I was curious as to the quality behind the brand. I find that beauty products from the UK are typically better in quality perhaps due to the more stringent regulations with chemicals in products. To date I’ve tried a variety of products and everything has been wonderful. I love the black bottle line that features the lavender blend body oil, the pillow spray and the new eye balm. Oils are meant to be in darker bottles to protect them from spoiling, so it aesthetically looks gorgeous and makes the oils last.

I don’t know about you, but no matter how much I hydrate, when the cold temps hit my skin literally hurts. I have to load up on body lotion and especially oils. I apply an oil first then lock it in with lotion. I’ve tried countless oils, and this one is definitely one of my favorites! It’s relaxing with the aroma of lavender and a little goes a long way. The new eye roller ball concept is my favorite too. I’ve used countless eye lotions, but I always end up reapplying. As a result I gravitate towards balms, but those can get dirty rather quickly as you have to dip your fingers into them. The roller ball concept makes for easy traveling and you don’t have to use your fingers.

In addition to the ultra hydration factor, it smells good, and the cold ball will organically wake up your eyes. While the price is on the more expensive side, a little bit goes a long way and I truly love this product! Other products I love are the Super Seed Oil. It’s packed with a variety of oils and makes my skin feel hydrated by simply throwing a tbsp in my smoothies. I highly recommend! If you love products from the UK that work, you have to explore Votary!

Review: I discovered this company last year and instantly fell in love with their products. I was captivated by the marketing, packaging, & ingredient transparency. To date I’ve tried a generous portion of the line and everything has been a hit. That includes, the eye creams, gold face cream, neck cream, face washes, body lotions and more. This time I sampled the new plant fusion serum along with the Fleuressence face oil. I loved the serum as a little goes a long way and it adds a vibrancy to the skin.

It’s not drying, somewhat hydrating, and it just works! In terms of facial oils, I’ve tried countless options. I’ve been using them for years under lotion to increase the moisture in my skin regardless of the season. My favorite facial oil is the Rodin brand, but it’s extremely expensive. This Goldfaden oil is a spitting image of the Rodin oil in that the aroma is very similar. That being said, I highly recommend this oil! If you’re looking for skincare, Goldfaden is my personal go to! The facial scrub is the best I’ve tried in years that not only exfoliates and does the job, but hydrates simultaneously. You must check out Goldfaden MD!

Review: When I first saw Sunday Riley in Sephora, it caught my eye due to the bright packaging, but like many products, I thought they would just be a complete dud. I was greatly mistaken! I’ve tried a good portion of their products and everything is wonderful. While the ingredient lists are long the products are said to be considered “natural”. I love how the focus is anti aging and all the serums provide results instantly. This time I sampled the standard facial oil as well as their facial cleansers. Face washes are typically things we overlook and we opt for more affordable options, but I truly believe in good skincare all around, and it starts with a good faces wash.

For the most part I don’t wear makeup, but some days I’ll throw on their tinted spf, which I love! The product is light and sheer, provides great coverage, and I’m hooked. I’ve been using Super Goop tinted spf for years and couldn’t find something that compared, this is better! Back to the cleansers, I sampled the Martian, which was cooling to the skin and on the thicker side. The product serves as a toner and not as a face wash, but did the trick to get off the residual makeup without drying out the skin.

Lastly, the balm I loved! I haven’t really gravitated towards the moisturizing face washes as they typically don’t remove makeup. While you may have to use a toner after this wash, I found that it really removed almost all of my makeup and kept my skin super hydrated. In addition the color is fun shade of blue and a little goes a long way!

Whether you’re looking for anti aging products, a foundation, and more, you have to check out Sunday Riley, highly recommend!

Review: Malin Goetz is a company that I’m completely enamored with. They started out with a line of candles with gorgeous scents and they have evolved to offer lotions, body washes, perfumes, and now skincare! As mentioned before, many companies miss the mark with they branch out to feature other products. However, I was greatly impressed with the simplicity and quality of the MG skincare. I sampled a classic face lotion, a staple body lotion, and the new glycolic peel pads. The lotions are gorgeous and this is one of their most popular scents. The only catch is, if you have very dry skin, you may have to reapply hours later. For everyone else, you’re fine! lol

The face lotion is wonderful offering a light mint scent and a good hydration factor that’s perfect for day and night if you have normal skin. I have to pair mine with an oil as that’s just what I do with every face cream to up the moisture! I was intrigued by the glycolic pads as I used to use the Dr. Dennis Gross pads back in 2009 when they came about. The product received rave reviews and gave you an instant glow. These do the same, but without drying out the skin or a burning sensation on your face. that being said, I love these! It’s a quick facial that you can do 1x a week and the results last.

In terms of the MG candles, they of course are all gorgeous! They are just as good as Lafco, Linnea’s, but perhaps come in less scents. I’ve love the dark rum, cannabis, and sampled the sage candle, which was also pleasing to the senses! You can smell their candles without even lighting them as the scents are so strong!

If you’re looking for candles, skincare, or body care, you have to check out Malin Goetz!
