A HISTORY AS RICH AS THE SEED

Born in the fertile landscape of central Mexico at a latitude of 15 degrees from the equator, Chia seeds were grown and eaten as early as 3500BC by the Mayans and Aztecs.

An incredibly versatile seed, they didn’t just rely on Chia seeds as a prime source of nutrition. They would mix them with water and drink them as a beverage, grind them into flour, mix them into their medicines, press them for oil and even use them as a base for body paints.

But the predominant use for Chia was as a mega-energy food. The running messengers of the day would carry a pouch with them at all times so they could keep their strength up – without weighing themselves down. Perhaps that’s why they gave this special seed the name ‘Chia,’ or ‘strength’ in Mayan.

    

HEALTH

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM CHIA?   We would never ask you to change out your diet completely. Especially when Chia is such an easy element to add to it. But we do know that most processed and fast foods are lacking in the basic nutrition that is essential for good health, like fibre, protein, Omega-3 and other vitamins and minerals. OUR CHIA IS 100% CHEMICAL-FREE

 

It’s not that we don’t trust ourselves, but we use an independent third party to verify that our Chia is 100% chemical-free before we sell it. We grow Chia in harmony with our environment, and to ensure the soil contains just the right amount of nitrogen for our Chia, we rotate our Chia plants with legume crops. So, yes, we do take this promise very seriously.

 

Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow. Unlike many Chia growers, we use an innovative method to allow our Chia to ripen in the sun rather than using chemicals to ripen them artificially. To us, growing our Chia seeds chemical-free is just the way it’s supposed to be. For the insects that like to eat our Chia seeds off the plant (who can blame them?), we simply let nature take its course.
