Scrub Love Review
Hello & Happy Saturday!!
Just like the potential vegan food products I may consume, I like when companies are transparent with their ingredients and are comprised of only a handful of ingredients altogether.
In recent times I have found that a myriad of companies are exploring the concept of natural scrubs comprised of coffee grounds. The idea behind this is based upon studies that indicate caffeine has the ability to increase circulation and ultimately reduce cellulite. As a result caffeine can now be found in a variety of creams for the eye and body.
Another wonderful benefit of coffee grounds is that they serve as a great exfoliator! While I love using sugar to exfoliate the skin, sugar dissolves and becomes less effective. Coffee grounds on the other hand are more fragrant and don’t dissolve. The negative aspect of grounds is that they can build up in the drain if used in the shower, which if you have old piping I wouldn’t recommend using a product of this sort. .
I had the opportunity to sample Scrub Love coffee based body scrub recently and wanted to share my thoughts on the overall product quality. What I love about this product is that it’s organic and has minimal ingredients being only coffee grounds and essential oils.
My personal thoughts on scrubs with oils is that they balance each other in the sense that you’re exfoliating and hydrating simultaneously. On the other hand I find that when you mix essential oils with coffee that the aroma is less pleasant as various oils don’t really blend well with the fragrance of coffee. This product in particular I found didn’t really have an abundance of oil, which is nice in that the smell is more coffee forward, but at the same time the product is mostly coffee grounds. That being said, the overall product value is less, because you could literally reach for your old coffee grounds and replicate the product.
However, I do really enjoy coffee scrubs, I find them invorgrating, fun to use, but that I have to be weary of making sure I clean up after when using it in the shower. In regards to the packaging I found it not to be appropriate for the shower environment the package gets discolored when damp.
I would recommend that the company modify the packaging to be shower appropriate, add more oil to the prodcut and perhaps one that is neutral in scent so that the smell profile is just coffee!
If you’re looking to explore coffee grounds as an exfoliator I find that its the perfect affordable DIY product! You have to try Scrub Love!
Why I like this product:
- Minimal ingredients
- Perfect for mornings (love coffee in the am)
