Sjaak’s Organic Vegan Chocolate Review
HELLO & HAPPY SUNDAY!!
As Easter slowly approaches I thought it would be wonderful to share one of my favorite companies that products all organic vegan chocolates!!
Sjaak’s offers a wide variety of chocolate sweets to meet your sweet tooth needs..
What I love most about this company in addition to the quality of their chocolate is that they offer a myriad of options and tons of special edition holiday sets!!
Rather than purchase the typical candies filled with high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors and flavorings, I recommend exploring other options..
Like Sjaak’s organic vegan chocolate..
Sjaak’s Organic Chocolates aims to create the highest quality gourmet organic chocolates possible while simultaneously supporting a positive work environment, fair trade practices and encouraging sustainable agriculture through the use of organic, non-GMO ingredients. It is also the goal of Sjaak’s Organic Chocolates to build a socially responsible, profitable business that can be carried on for generations to come.
Jacques Holten, Owner
Jacques, the creator of Sjaak’s Organic Chocolates, has brought his talents as a confectioner over from Holland, his homeland. His extensive knowledge of confections and his flare for creativity allows him to create endless amounts of gourmet treats for us all to delight in! When he is not in the kitchen, at home, or in the Sjaak’s factory concocting another mouth watering treat, he is either gardening (a landscape worthy of a wedding location), painting, or playing with his grandson, trying to teach him to say OPA (Dutch for grandpa)
Pam Holten, Co-founder
Pam is the wife of Jacques. We can actually thank her for everything, for with out her, and Jacques love of her, there would be no Sjaak’s Organic chocolates. You see back in 1969 Jacques followed Pam all the way from Spain to Northern California where they settled married and began a family. Pam currently works as consultant and administrator.
The Sjaak’s Story began on the Southern beaches of Spain. This is where Jacques and Pam met and fell in love. They soon came back and settled in Eureka (northern ca.) where Pam had grown up. They began a Chocolate business that grew into a household name in their community. After years of building a thriving business, they realized that they needed to shift their attention to organic products. Being long time vegetarians (since 1970) and health conscious consumers themselves, they felt they needed their personal beliefs reflected in their business, thus the beginning of Sjaak’s Organic chocolates.)

Candy Ingredients You Should Avoid
High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)
They call it “corn sugar,” I call it bad for you. There is still debate over whether HFCS is worse for you than regular sugar, but let’s not forget that regular sugar is really bad for you too, so it doesn’t really matter. HFCS is in virtually every candy and very hard to avoid.
Food coloring (especially Blues 1 and 2, Red 3, Green 3, and Yellow 5) are associated with a handful of cancers and a bunch of other scary reactions. Many of them have been banned in various countries around the world, but they are still commonly used. A certain percentage of the population is so sensitive to Yellow no. 5 they break out in hives and have asthma attacks. Tasty huh?
Trans fat may have been banned in restaurants, but it is still in most candy bars like Snickers and Three Musketeers. There is no safe amount of trans fat in your diet and you should avoid it like the plague.
