Project Juice

You may think of many things in your life as a ‘project’. A project to start eating better, to start exercising more often, to start spending more time doing the things you love. Well, at Project Juice, it is our goal to make these type of wellness initiatives attainable. You see, Project Juice began as our personal ‘project’ to develop and deliver the highest quality plant-based foods and cold pressed juices in a convenient and accessible form.

Our interest and knowledge of plant based eating and cold pressed juicing was sparked by necessity, through our own struggles with food allergies and sensitivities. Our passion came after experiencing the undeniable benefits of consuming a mostly plant based diet and incorporating nutrient rich cold pressed juices into our lives. The Project was born out of our desire to share these benefits with you.

In March 2015, Project Juice and Ritual Wellness joined forces to form the country’s leading certified organic cold-pressed juice and plant-powered food companies. Project Juice is now delivering the ultimate wellness experience through retail stores and local delivery in both Northern and Southern California, as well as nationally through overnight delivery.

Review: I experienced PJ a few years and fell in love with their blends. The Charcoal is my go to as it tastes like the traditional Master Cleanse blend, but has charcoal as an added touch. Does charcoal have the ability to detox your body in a large capacity? That remains to be seen  Today they offer a wide variety of blends and even prepared smoothie and bowl options. The plus side of premixed options is having them ready to go whenever you need one, they have modern mixes featuring chia seeds and more, they are great for travel, portioned out, can outlive any fresh fruit and save on washing dishes! One of my favorite products from PJ are their elixirs!

Review: I can confidently say Blue Print pioneered the bottled green juice movement. Before the inception of their company nothing really existed. Today the company is still thriving and they’ve introduced items such as Cashew Milks, kombucha, and more. I love their juices as they have wonderful blends and the sugar content is perhaps one of the lowest in the juice world. The company reminds me that just because something doesn’t exist, doesn’t mean that it won’t work. All their juices are organic, accessible, and are offered in the staple blends we all know and love.

Review: I recently tried Nekter juice for the first time and had a pleasant experience. They are a California based company and offer an array of juices, smoothies, bowls and more. In addition to the wonderful blends, the juices are also infused with probiotics to boost healthy gut bacteria. While the portions seem larger being 16.9 oz versus the traditional 16oz portions, I filled the product into other juice bottles and it fit the same. My favorite blends were the Camu Camu, Charcoal and the protein nut milk. I typically stay away from the nut milk options as they just lack something for me. However, this one was really good! My only complaint would be that the sugar content seems to be on the higher side for some of the varieties. However, you’ll find a flection in sugar content amongst companies. That being said, if I ever feel like it’s too much I’ll simply break up the portions and enjoy throughout the day.

OUR STORY

In the summer of 2010, three friends came together, each on their own personal journey towards health and well-being. Each had experienced their own detours and bumps along the road, but one powerful thing connected them together: juice Carly, Hedi, & Hayden had all been positively impacted by incorporating cold-pressed juice and juice cleansing into their lives. And they wanted to share what they had discovered. Because they believed that the real secret to a healthy and happy life shouldn’t be a secret at all. Our founders created Pressed Juicery with one goal in mind, to bring delicious, premium, and nutritious juice to everyone. They did it by doing things that many health and wellness companies often forget:

Review: I had experience one of their basic juice blends as well as their vegan froyo. While the juice was an everyday blend and I had no idea that they offered a myriad of juice options.  I can’t say enough about this company as they offer so many diverse blends that all are surprisingly good. I typically stick to the usually green juice with a hint of apple, but their innovative blends are just so good and keep your tastebuds on your toes. I personally loved the almond milk blends, which I’m never a fan of. I prefer these in the a.m. as they are filling, rich but contain low sugar, and the flavors are just so on point! My all time fave is the Strawberry Almond Milk, insanely good! If you love a company that has a variety of options, low sugar content, and a fab price point, you have to check out Press Juicery! (it’s my number 1 fave at this time)

WHY COLD PRESSED

MMJ uses a hydraulic juice press, which first grinds down whole organic fruits and vegetables into a fine pulp; the pulp is then pressed in linen bags to produce the maximum amount of juice. Studies have shown there is a marked superiority of nutrient, and mineral content when juice is extracted from a hydraulic press compared to using centrifugal juicers.

Review: I’ve loved this NYC company since their inception based on the marketing, the shop, and the array of juices and food they offer. Many companies fall short somewhere, but MM hits the mark on juice blends and food! I find that food is one of those things that I typically pass on at juice shops, but they have impressive salads, puddings, breakfast, snacks and more. My favorite products are the coconut and lime juice, granola, elixirs, and chia pudding! If you love niche juice shops be sure to visit my one of favorites in the NYC! (They’ll soon be widely distributed at markets, stay tuned!)

Joe & the Juice

Joe & The Juice is a Danish founded coffee juice chain that finally made it’s way to the NYC! I happened to see a shop in Soho year ago and they ventured out into the Financial District where I lived and I finally had to experience what all the hype was about. From the eclectic decor to the vast menu that offers a wide variety of juice blends, I was instantly intrigued. I love their approach to coffee and juice, the blends are on point, and all the juices are blended with a little bit of ice to provide a colder temp, which honestly.. I love!

The idea is that the blender heats the juice and you ultimately lose nutrients. By using ice you keep the temperature down to preserve nutrients and achieve a chilled juice. I don’t know about you, but I don’t drink my juice in minutes so I like to know that it will still be cold when I reach for it later. Surprisingly, there isn’t a juice company I can think of even in 2018 that takes that same approach, which makes them stand out again to me!

About Garden of Life

We are fanatical about food.  We’re different that way. Whether we’re making a vitamin, or a probiotic, or a protein powder, we always start with real foods and these (foods) provide our formulas the power to be their best. We’re different that way, too. The synthetically created, chemical “breakthroughs” from huge commercial laboratories around the world are not for us. Let the other guys sell those “supplements.” No thanks.

As fanatical as we are over what goes into our products, we are even more obsessed about the things we keep out of them. We hate those synthetic chemicals that most companies use to make their products. This stuff makes machines work faster, and helps factories churn out super-sized containers at higher “efficiency.” Well, while the other guys spend their time preoccupied with their efficiency, we’re uncompromising about your health. Slow it down, make it by hand, grow it in rich organic non-GMO soil with enough sun, air, water and time for it to be its best. Harvest it when ready. Treat it with care. Turn it into a power-packed nutritious food supplement. That’s what we are about.

Review: My mother previously ran a holistic health shop that offered everything from food to supplements, so I’m familiar with Garden of Life. However, there was a huge gap in my supplement taking as I found that they made me break out and I just didn’t enjoy the overall feeling they gave me. Today, I love exploring the different varieties that are on the market. Since the supplement industry is loosely regulated I find it imperative to choose options from reputable companies and Garden of Life is the first company that came to mind. I sampled the vegan and non gmo probiotic, Raw One Day Prenatal, Raw Prenatal Gummies, vegetarian Raw Prenatal vitamins.

I love how their options don’t promote blemishes, I can effortlessly opt for vegan gummy or pill options, and that they also offer 1 pill a day forms as I’m not fond of taking multiple pills. Whether pregnant or simply trying to ensure that you get your daily recommended intake of vitamins and minerals, I higly recommend Garden of Life!

Curious about their products?! I’m offering a giveaway via social media!

Rainbow Light®The Origin of the Name

Rainbow Light was founded in 1981 in beautiful Santa Cruz, California by a team of individuals with a shared passion for providing healthy nutritional supplements grounded in the power of nature.

The Rainbow Light name ties back to the first product we offered—spirulina. In the early days, during nutritional content testing procedures, our researchers discovered that spirulina refracted all the colors of the rainbow under a light spectrophotometer. These rainbow colors revealed the full spectrum of nutritional constituents present in spirulina. Inspired by the power of nature, viewed through the lens of science, our brand name was born.

Today, spirulina forms part of the food base in every one of our multivitamin products, along with a customized blend of nutrients and targeted superfoods specific to each formula.

Review: Rainbow Light is a company I had been seeing more and more of at Whole Foods and was instantly drawn to the packaging and the fact that they offer and array of supplements. They were actually the first supplants I tried after taking a break for nearly 10 years and shifted my perspective on supplementing. I’ve explored their vegan Prenatal One , Prenatal Multi Plus, Energy Support, vegetarian Probiotic Gummies.

While the probiotic option isn’t vegan, there are countless companies that offer a vegan probiotic if that’s what you’re looking for. While I opt for 1 pill a day options as I don’t like to take multiple pills, I do however like the multiple pill options. If I don’t feel as though I need a full dose given my intake for the day, its nice to simply take half a dose for a little extra boost!

The Good Gummy

At SmartyPants, we’re all about simplifying health. Our gummy obsession started because we believed that the very best vitamins are all in one: premium ingredients delivered in a delicious package and sold at a fair price. We combine nutrients like omega 3 EPA and DHA fatty acids and vitamin D3 with a full multivitamin to save you money, time, and peace of mind.

The people we care most about take these gummies, so we wake up every day trying to make them better and better. That’s why all SmartyPants are non-GMO, allergen-free, and made with eco-friendly ingredients. They contain no synthetic colors or artificial flavors or sweeteners, and each batch is third-party lab tested for purity and potency.

Our goal, good health for the real world. All of it.

Review: Ironically gummy vitamins have been making a comeback over the past few years and have evolved to be a great alternative to the the traditional pill for both kids and adults. From a daily vitamin to probiotics and now magnesium and zinc, Smartypants offers a wide variety of options that are made from non gmo ingredients, and contain no synthetic colors or artificial sweeteners. The vitamins do contain both pectin and gelatin, making them not vegan friendly, but the Magnesium and Zinc and Probiotic options are!
