 Hello & Happy Monday!!

As a plant based foodie who loves to cook, I rarely struggle with getting an array of veggies in my diet..

What do I struggle with?

Getting my daily recommended intake of water (truth)

Whether its because I’m forever on the go and I loathe carrying around a bottle everywhere, or that I simply forget altogether.. I rarely get as much water that is recommended for the body to run optimally.

To combat my daily struggle to get my water intake, I always try and concoct recipes to give my water a flavor and nutrient boost.. Chia seeds, fresh herbs, citrus fruit, whatever gives water more character so the task doesn’t seem so redundant!

As nice as fresh herbs, citrus, and chia seeds may be though, they’re not always on hand, portable, can spoil water faster, and can even become boring after a while..

Which is why I am Always excited to explore new products that put a new spin on the classic water.

H2WoW is a family owned company that specializes in water enhancers that are not only organic, sans artificial flavors, preservatives, sweeteners, and colors, but offer a plethora of flavors that are both creative and intricate.

If you were once a HUGE fan of water enhancers, but kicked the habit due to the obscene levels of chemicals each product contains.. then H2WoW will be a breath of fresh air..

Throw in some chia seeds or sparkling water and you have water that’s not a chore to drink!

Our Story

Hi. I’m Ali. I live in San Francisco and I am a mother of two wonderful daughters and wife of a pretty great guy (we work together so I better be nice). I put my corporate career on hold to spend time with my kids, and like many moms I became an obsessive label reader in an effort to find the healthiest foods to feed my young family. In my quest to read as many labels as a I could, I became keenly aware that in this world of processed and genetically-modified ingredients there were opportunities abound to improve upon many of the products I was buying, and that is where the idea for H2wOw began.

blog-enhancers7-1We all know that drinking a lot of water throughout the day is healthy for many reasons, but I have to admit it can get boring (and if I sometimes feel that way, you can only imagine how unexciting it gets for my kids). Since I refuse to let them drink sodas, sports drinks or sugary juices, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I started putting fruit slices in my water, but that turned out to be a lot of work (with organic fruit that does not last forever), and as you can imagine, with young kids I’m trying to reduce the amount of work in my life. So I did the next best thing–I started looking in the grocery store for something similar to what I was making at home. I bought a couple of water enhancers but was really disappointed with the choices out there. They tasted fake and were filled with artificial sweeteners and preservatives like sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate.

So, the mainstream water-enhancers were not going to work (at least not for drinking), but I definitely did not have time to make a daily batch of fresh fruit water. Then, one day I was with one of my super-healthy friends and noticed that she was putting essential oils into her water which she said were simply extracts of real fruit without additives or anything artificial. I went online and bought some food-grade essential oils and began experimenting with various combinations in our water bottles.

I came up with some really interesting mixtures that the kids loved, I loved, and even my husband (a big sparkling water drinker) loved. In fact, he was so excited, he started using the oils in his SodaStream. The great thing about it was that they tasted like the cut fruit I was putting in our water bottles but without the all the hassle.

I was very inspired (or obsessed as my husband called it)! I was on a mission to develop a truly natural alternative to all of the fake water enhancers. Mine would tastes great, with just a natural hint of sweetness. It would be clean, crisp and clear with maybe some added electrolytes for hydration.
